July & August 2011
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
COLOMBIA
HMI celebrated their 5th graduation class from Palitas in their new sanctuary. We had 19 students graduate and many of them are looking forward to having the opportunity to go into the second level of study. Zuleny Romero and Pastor Carmen Rodriguez from Venezuela ministered at the graduation ceremony and accepted the plaque for us. They also spent time teaching and ministering to the HMI teachers.
HMI’S teachers are excited about having the opportunity to teach in 3 schools. In August HMI began a Bible School in Aracataca, one in Palitas, and one in Reten. The Pastors in Aracataca continue to provide an air conditioned room and food for the teachers. There are very few homes with air conditioning in those towns. We are so blessed!
This is the first Bible School HMI has had in Reten. Reten is a small town close to Aracataca. .There are 35 students which include 6 Pastors.
It was a great first week of classes in Aracataca with 5 students receiving Jesus as their Savior. These are people that have been going to church and thought they were saved but when they heard the anointed Word the Holy Spirit opened their eyes to the truth of their condition. This class has a lot of baby Christians and it will be a joy to watch their spiritual growth. There are 24 students in this school.
We are having a second level school in Pailitas. This is the second time we have given the opportunity for extended Bible classes in Pailitas. The first time the class was just awesome, not only in their studies but in their evangelistic outreaches and we expect this class to also make a difference in their community. This class in Palitas has 18 students.
VENEZUELA
In the last 2 months HMI had 57 people receive Jesus as their Savior in Venezuela and 5 in Colombia. The Farm Churches had 31 saved, Japreria Indian Village 12 saved, Tinacoa Indian Village 12 saved, Children’s cell 2 saved.
HMI spent 3 nights in Japreria Indian Village evangelizing, teaching and ministering to the people, and having leadership training for the leaders of the Japreria Church. Two ladies came from Maracaibo, VZ to join HMI in ministering to the people. The two ladies enjoyed ministering to the people but the living conditions in the jungle were a challenge and fun for them.
One day in Japreria Children’s Church of the ages 9-12 the Holy Spirit convicted the children of different sins as the Word was taught. The children began to cry and ask forgiveness or their sins. The children have such tender hearts and their faith is strong. They always have testimonies of praying for family members or themselves and them being healed. We celebrated children’s Day in Japreria with food, and lots of fun and games and the Japreria Children did some drama.
The Farm Churches are flourishing with 31 people being saved the last 2 months. We have new leadership and some new people going to the farms to minister and they are all having a great time ministering the Word and fellowshipping with the workers on the farms.
One afternoon when HMI arrived at Tinacoa Indian Village a lady came to the ministers and asked them to pray for her husband because he had fever and was shaking. They went and prayed for him and after the service the lady came back to tell them that her husband was completely healed. It is a difficult trip to Tinacoa. Each time we have gone to the village the truck has either been stuck in the mud or broken down. We’re very thankful that God always sends help. Please pray that these problems will not continue. Thanks!
It was necessary to change the day of the week of Haydee’s Children’s Cell. As a result of the change we have a new group of kids to minister to. Haydee has a teenager she has trained to help teach and lead the group.
Marcia is going to have a total knee replacement in October when she turns 65. The plan is to return to Venezuela & Colombia in January. When we return from Venezuela next year she will have the knee replacement on the other knee. Please pray for a quick recovery. Thank you!
Our goal in Venezuela and Colombia has always been to work ourselves out of a job by training nationals to do the work of the ministry. God is so faithful-the HMI leaders in both countries have said: “Stay in the USA until Marcia is fully recovered from her surgery, we can run the ministry, we are ready”. Glory be to God they are doing a great work.
Thank you for your prayers and your financial support. God uses all of us as a team to accomplish His Grand Commission. Please visit HMI on line and you are invited to make your donations on our website. WWW.HARVESTINGSOULS.ORG
