March/April 2010
Greetings from Venezuela:
COLOMBIA
HMI began another first level Bible School in Pailitas, Colombia with Sonja Asan as the director of the school until Eunice, she has the little girl that had cancer, returns to her position. We have 25 very enthusiastic students. The Pastor, where the school is located, asked for a few minutes to speak to the students and he began to tell the students about the school. The Pastor, his wife, and leaders of the church graduated from the school in 2009. He told the students that HMI Bible School is a school of excellence. He said there were many schools that give you knowledge, as did HMI’s school, but HMI’s did so much more. HMI Bible School trains you to do the Word, help bring discipline, and help develop your character. He told them his leaders and teachers had graduated from the school and he knew it would change their lives as it had theirs. We just listened with thanksgiving as he encouraged the students. We’ll be starting another school in Pelaya, Colombia on April 12.
VENEZUELA
The following is a report on the prayer request in our last newsletter. Thank you for praying.
- Sabdy, the little girl that had cancer was operated on and is cancer free. Praise God!
- Bartolo, the man that had the stroke is doing very good. The doctors are amazed at his progress. Please continue praying for his full recovery.
- A medical team came from Maracaibo, city of 3,000,000 people that is one hour from here, and tested the people in Japreria Indian Village. The medical team discovered we have people with Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Dingy fever, & A.I.D.S. A doctor is staying several days a week in the village and the people with Hepatitis are being given IV’s to get fluids in their bodies. One of the problems was the lack of water and the Mayor has started sending more water trucks to the village. We praise God for your prayers. Because of prayer the government has stepped in and are giving the village the medical help they need. The doctors have recommended that we wear gloves, don’t eat or drink in the village, and don’t stay overnight. We believe that God will use this situation to prepare their hearts to receive Jesus and we are preparing for a 3-day crusade/revival in the village.
HMI had 62 people saved in February and March in different areas of the ministry. Cell groups had 28 saved, 12 people saved while visiting people to invite to a new cell, 19 people saved in the Farm Churches, and 3 saved in Church of the Harvest.
Andres, leader in Victorino Farm Church, left the farm along with many of the men. They are missed! There is a new group of men, which means opportunity for more to receive Jesus as their Savior. The new men are really excited about the Church being on the farm they are working on. The people of Corralito and El Choro farm churches are growing and people continue to receive Jesus as new workers come to the farms. (19 saved in 2 months)
Most of the people that work with HMI in Venezuela met at our home for a time of fellowship, worship, praise, testimonies, prayer, vision casting and for sure some great food. Our faithful God manifested Himself by His Holy Spirit and drew us into unity as a functioning part of His body. We had reports of salvations and healings from each of our areas of ministry. Marcia cast the vision for a jail and nursing home ministry. We spent much time praying for advancing the Kingdom through: a crusade/revival in Japreria, new schools here and Colombia, new cell groups, jail and nursing home ministry.
Japreria continues to be difficult but a greatjoy to us and to all the people that minister in the village. In the adult church the 7 leaders are being taught separately from the rest of the church. Wednesday there were very few adults in the church and Marcia thought, “ Look after 11 years and only about 10 adults here. Where are all the people?” Then Marcia walked into the place we are having services and the presence of God was so strong it made Marcia cry and she asked forgiveness for being discouraged. God was not disappointed, He was so proud of those that were there and He was manifesting Himself to them. As it turned out it had rained the night before and most of the people were planting seeds in their fields.
In Venezuela the Catholic religion is taught as a course in the publicschools, that is, everywhere except Japreria Indian Village. Our ministers teach in the classrooms and they give the public school teachers the curriculum and goals for the month for each class and the teachers turn them in as part of their school curriculum. Isn’t that just awesome. Some of our teachers may not have a high school diploma yet they are teachers in the public school. HMI ministers are so excited about the progress of the kids. The Catholic Priest came to visit the school when HMI was teaching and the 2 to 4 year olds were able to quote scripture for him and each class he went to the kids just showed out their knowledge. Our teachers were so proud!
There continues to be a water shortage and our town along with all of Venezuela is without electricity at certain times during the day. This week our electricity was off from 6:00pm to 8:00pm daily and next week it will be off from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and the following week it will change. The internet company is in a different area and their electricity is off at a different time so we are always without internet service for 4 hours or more each day. With the power off at different times it is very difficult to start a Bible School here in LaVilla.
We headed out to visit an Indian Village about 4 hours from here. We had to cross a river and the truck got stuck in the river between two big rocks. Seale continued walking to the village from the river and visited with the people in one house and Marcia stayed with the truck. He talked about Jesus, they prayed, and sang and then he joined Marcia at the river! (see picture) God provided a tractor to get us out of the river and then people in a truck came to the river to swim and wash dishes and they took us to a town about 3 hours from the river to get a taxi home. Next day we were back at the river. A friend got a truck hauler to get our truck back home. God is so faithful! It was a good 2 days!
